The Opportunity
Mission:
Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, the Customer Development Manager drives customer growth and supports commercial decision-making through data-driven insights.
This role leads customer planning and performance while also managing and developing a Graduate Research Analyst, ensuring high-quality reporting, insights, and analytical support to the business. The role plays a key part in elevating both customer strategy and internal analytical capabilities.
What you'll get to do
Customer Strategy & Commercial Performance
- Co-design, execute and monitor Net Revenue Growth Management (NRGM) initiatives to improve top and bottom line
- Lead the key account planning cycle, including customer segmentation, resource allocation, and performance monitoring
- Partner with commercial teams to strengthen customer strategies and identify growth opportunities
- Monitor and manage grey market activities to protect brand equity
- Support commercial operations related to trade allowances, commercial conditions, and sales force communications
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and develop a Graduate Research Analyst, providing clear direction, coaching, and regular feedback
- Oversee delivery of high-quality reporting, dashboards, and analysis to support business decision-making
- Build the analytical capability of the team, ensuring strong data accuracy, consistency, and storytelling
- Set priorities and ensure alignment of the analyst’s work with business and commercial needs
- Create opportunities for exposure to senior stakeholders, supporting the analyst’s development
Insights, Reporting & Business Support
- Translate complex commercial and customer data into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders
- Oversee preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting, ensuring accuracy and clarity
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities across sales, margins, and customer performance
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and business case development in partnership with Finance
- Drive continuous improvement of reporting tools, dashboards, and processes
We'd love to meet you if you have
Experience: 5+ years in customer development, key account management, trade marketing, revenue management, or similar roles within consumer goods, retail, or consulting
Education: Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
Languages: English
Competencies:
- Strong leadership and coaching capability
- Commercial acumen with a customer-first mindset
- Advanced analytical skills with strong storytelling ability
- Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
- Stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Strong understanding of financials and planning processes
Specific Knowledge Required:
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
- Database management (Access or SQL) and data tools (R, SPSS, SAS) are highly valued
